Read Write Now Part 2

After the successful staging of the first Read Write Now Program in May/June 2022 and the positive feedback given from teachers, parents and children, we agreed to continue financing the programm and bring it to other schools.

During October and November 2022, Danijah Taylor and his team of volunteers (amongst them was Shanique Singh, the Miss Jamaica World 2022) provided a free three week (Tuesday-Thursday) two hour per day creative writing curriculum to two early childhood institutions.

The Love and Faith Basic School in Spanish Town and The Cumberland Basic School in Portmore.

Using creative teaching methods to edutain the children with animated reading videos, hand-puppets, exciting guests and daily worksheets. To improve the students reading and writing ability and foster a love for reading and writing, while introducing them back into the classroom learning experience after nearly two years of school closures during the pandemic.

The program is exposing teachers to the use of creative writing in the classroom and is using daily worksheets for the students to judge the impact of the curriculum and the literacy levels of the students.
